Haven Gallery moving to Colorado

For the past couple of years, my jewelry has been available in Austin, TX at Haven Gallery, a beautiful art/craft gallery downtown. The owner is moving the gallery to Estes Park, CO. Once she gets settled in to the new location, I’ll be represented in two states! In the meantime, the best place to keep track of progress is on Haven Gallery’s Facebook page.

There’s a lot of North Texas in my future! I’ll be at the Dallas Quilt Celebration on March 9-11 and the brand new Art on the Greene on March 23-25.

The Dallas Quilt Celebration is the largest volunteer-driven quilt show in the nation. The theme this year is “In Full Bloom”. Come to Dallas Market Hall and see almost 400 spectacular quilts, and over 150 vendors, including yours truly!

Art on the Greene is a free three-day Arts Festival located between The Ballpark in Arlington and Cowboys Stadium. Art On The Greene will feature the finest artists and prominent local live entertainment. And a beer tent!

I’ve got a list of non-crocheting projects I’d like to tackle. Ideally, I’d like to take one-day sabbaticals from my day job for each of these, but shows in the DFW area are making that unlikely. Still, maybe I can schedule a few consecutive evenings instead.

investigate knitting reversible cables
use those reversible cables to make a standard kilt hose pattern
learn/relearn how to use my sewing machine
make something on my inkle loom
restring my glass seed bead necklaces

And those are the small projects!

Big little doilies

I’ve been taking it easy the last couple of weeks by making some doilies with the relatively huge size 11 hook. They range in size from about 3.5″ to 4.5″ in diameter. Expect to see these in some pretty frames soon! Like at the First Saturday Arts Market on February 4!

Wow, my first year at the International Quilt Festival was amazing! Thank you to everyone who stopped by and signed up on my mailing list. My Etsy shop is live again, and I’ll add the snowflake ornaments as soon as I can photograph them!

In December, I have the most wonderful First Saturday Arts Market, and a brand new holiday market that’s practically in my back yard. It’s the Bizarre Holiday on Main Street – it’ll be taking place on Winbern Street off of Main Street, in front of Sig’s Lagoon. This is a cool little area just a block or so north of Alabama, next to the Metro train station.

So that’s two opportunities to find one-of-a-kind local art, and here’s another. Although I won’t be at this show this year, I highly recommend WHAM (Winter Holiday Art Market), coming up next weekend.

Too busy making stuff to talk about it

Here are this year’s ornaments. I used to make snowflakes — lots of different patterns, but the same cotton thread/iridescent thread combination. Now I’m making fewer patterns, but more color combinations. And a couple of shapes that aren’t snowflakes! I’m very pleased with them; I just wish I had more time to make more ornaments!

International Quilt Festival

The International Quilt Festival/Houston is coming up, and it’s the biggest event I’ve ever participated in! I have new jewelry, framed doilies and snowflake ornaments that I haven’t even had time to photograph yet. It’s the best and widest selection I’ve ever offered.

This festival is huge and it is beautiful. The art and craftsmanship is simply amazing. Hundreds of quilts. And then there’s the shopping — hundreds of vendors! Last year, the attendance was over 60,000, a new record. It is truly an international show, with exhibitors and visitors from all over the world, and I’m lucky enough to have it in my back yard, at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.

The public preview for the International Quilt Festival is Wednesday night, 11/2, 7-10 pm. Then it’s open all day Thursday through Sunday. Daily admission is $10, and there are other ticket deals you can find on their website.

Another exhibit!

I’ve been chosen for Interwoven III, the annual fiber art exhibit presented by 18 Hands Gallery in the Heights! I’ve got two pairs of earrings in this show, and another pair at the Focus on Fiber exhibit at Betz Gallery.

The opening gala for Interwoven III is Saturday, October 22, 6-9 pm. Please come by to say hello and see some amazing fiber art in every category!

And you can still see Focus on Fiber through October 26. That’s two fiber art exhibits fewer than five miles apart!

Exciting news for October and beyond!

Of course, there’s the First Saturday Arts Market! I’ll be there this Saturday, October 1, from 11 am to 7 pm.

I will be one of the featured artists in Focus on Fiber, the annual juried exhibit by Houston Area Fiber Artists. This exciting gallery show runs October 1-26 at Betz Gallery on West Gray. I’m honored to have a pair of earrings included in this amazing collection!

And in November, you can find me at the International Quilt Festival at the George R. Brown Convention Center. I’m so excited about this, I can’t even tell you! This festival is huge. Massive. Full of insanely beautiful quilts and stuff. The public preview for the International Quilt Festival is Wednesday night, 11/2, 7-10 pm. Then it’s open all day Thursday through Sunday.
